I had some serious problems with my defi bf series gauges. I was wondering if anyone is familiar with their wiring. One day the control unit began to smoke and i ripped wires out of the control box so that fire wouldn't start in my car. In the process of ripping out wires i destroys many of the terminals that plug into the control box. Before purchasing a new control unit I would like to confirm that that is indeed the problem. If anyone is good at wiring and has the patience to fix the problem i would pay them.

I'd have to take a look at them I had the Defi series in my GSX. Who wired them the first time? Sounds like a bad ground/ wires touching to me.

that sounds like a good guess to me too..... my oil pressure gauge started acting up prior to the smoke coming from the control unit.... i bought the car with the gauges already installed so i can't say who installed them initially, but the wiring seemed to be done very well. i hate to admit this, but there were also neons wired in that were all hard wired and the wires were hidden very well. The gauges worked for several months without any problems. The thought has run through my mind several times to get rid of the digital gauges and just run regular old auto meters. Everyone is telling me i'm an idiot and it should be a quick fix, but i am sick of not being able to monitor my boost oil pressure and fuel pressure. I will be back in jersey in a couple weeks if you would be willing to look at them for me.
